Rights of a consumer

Consumer Protection Act defines consumer as anyone who buys goods or hires a service for personal use. But it does not include goods bought for commercial or resale purposes, unless anyone is using the goods/services for self-employment. He can also be one who uses goods with the consent of the person who buys it or hires services or beneficiary of such hired services. Knowing your status, know your rights as consumer! Be informed about the overall state (quality, quantity, potency, purity, standard and prices) of the goods/services so you are guarded against unfair trade practices and unscrupulous exploitation of consumers; you have right to seek redressal against them.
